1. Kasubi Tombs

As a traveler in Kampala, a stopover at the Kasubi Tombs is well worth your time. A palace housing 35 other buildings; this important historic site is the burial place of four Kabakas (Kings of Buganda) and other royal family members.

A tour in this place allows you to witness fascinating artifacts and learn about the rituals and traditions of Uganda’s largest tribal kingdom, the Buganda Kingdom.

As a burial site of four Buganda kings, Kasubi Tombs was listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2001, for its cultural and spiritual significance in Uganda, but also described as one of the most extraordinary buildings in the entire region of sub-Saharan Africa, thanks to its purely vegetal building materials. 

2. Ndere Centre

For winding down in Kampala, the Ndere Centre is an excellent venue to experience the colorful dance and music that is traditional to Uganda.

Opened for business on Sunday, Wednesday and Friday evenings, the Ndere Centre is a 700-seat arena - where you will enjoy dinner along with a stunning performance of colorful, high-energy dancing and music that displays the lively culture of the Ugandan tribes.

3. Ssezibwa Falls

Located 35km east of Kampala in Mukono District, Ssezibwa Falls are a spectacular attraction and Uganda’s hidden Cultural treasure. Legend has it that the Falls were born of a human, many hundred years ago. The Falls are one of the most spiritual and cultural centers where many natives flock for blessings, wealth and fortune, according to a local guide and care-taker in this place.

The Falls are on the Ssezibwa River which flows from the wetlands between Lake Victoria and Lake Kyoga. Ssezibwa Falls are about seven meters high and with the sweet hissing sound created by the falling water forms such beautiful scenery. This is complemented by the natural vegetation cover, the undulating and steep rocks over which the water falls. The site has several bird species which present a wonderful opportunity for bird watching.

4. Lubiri Palace

History and architecture enthusiasts will appreciate a visit to the Lubiri Palace, home of the former king of Buganda – Sir Edward Frederick Mutesa II. Situated on a hill overlooking Kampala, this arched, colonial-style building was involved in the Battle of Mengo, or The Mengo Crisis, also known as the 1966 Buganda Crisis, that was domestically, a period of political turmoil in the Country, Uganda.

5. Safari in Pian Upe Game Reserve
